BOSFA in New Zealand
The New Zealand Concrete Industry Conference 08 in Rotorua was a great success for BOSFA and Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC) in general. Interest was was exceptional and our man on the ground Alan Ross was kept busy feilding some very positive enquiries.

BOSFA takes on Tassie

The mining team from BOSFA attended the recent 10th AusIMM Underground Operators Conference and Ground support workshop in Tasmania. With around 450 delegates and a well setup forum we experienced a very positive outcome from the entire event rounding it off with a two day workshop organised by the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM).
We even had the opportunity to experience the TARGA Tasmania which proved to be highlight for rounding off what was a very successful and positive 3 day conference.

Tunnelling fever hits Brisbane
Recently commenced is the North South Bypass Tunnel owned by River City Motorway and constructed by LBBJV (Leighton Contractors and Baulderstone Hornibrook Bilfinger Berger Joint Venture)
This project is a twin tunnel design 4.8klm in length using a massive 12.4m Dia., TBM, segmentally lined with 12 segments per ring that are 240mm thick.
The high performance of Dramix steel fibres is being utilised in the TBM sheild Cradles and high performance shotcrete, as well as the Dramix Duomix Fire M6 Polypropylene micro fibres for Fire protection in 30% of segments and 30% of the shotcrete.

Dramix in Segments well underway
The first water desalination plant on the Eastern sea board is well underway with the production of the segmental linings for the TBM's starting in March/April this year.
The project is owned jointly by the Gold Coast City Council and the Qld State Government , the main contractor is the GCD Alliance ( J.Holland / Halcrow / Arup / Veolia Water ).
This is a twin tunnels design with a 2.2klm intake plus a 2.0klm outlet and is 3.4m diameter.The precast design is for 8 segments per ring at 200mm thick.
Precast Concrete from Carole Park was succesful in winning the production contract for the precast segments and for the first time in Australia Dramix high performance steel fibres were specified resulting in excellent production efficiences.
It was decided to utilise the numerous durability benefits of the high performance Dramix Steel fibres with regard to handling , transportation, placement,and jacking as well as the severe environment that the concrete is to be exposed to.
Dramix high performance steel fibres are also specified for the shotcrete lining.
